Free Trade Agreements, or FTAs, can be complex and impact countries around the world and, in turn, the global economy. The impacts do not just effect the economy, however; beyond these economic impacts are a number of social and environmental consequences. This presentation will focus on various free trade agreements, ranging from NAFTA to TPP to GATT, to provide a better understanding of what these agreements mean and their implications. For context, take a look at the map at the bottom of this post showing the countries currently in trade agreements with the United States!

Come to the Peace & Justice Center on Saturday, March 25 from 3:30-4:30 pm for our “Understanding Free Trade Agreements Presentation & Discussion.” We will discuss how the intention of free trade is to boost economies around the world, but this is often not the case. The presentation will discuss how corporate greed and developmental inequality contribute to the negative social, economic, and environmental consequences associated with free trade agreements.

People are encouraged to arrive at 3:00 to participate in a PJC New Volunteer Orientation! We hope to see you there!
