George Floyd with his daughter six years ago.

In response to the latest senseless loss of life by police murder to go viral, the heinous killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis, as well as the murders of Ahmaud Arbury, Breonna Taylor, and countless others, we have compiled this list. We especially encourage white people to take responsibility to change our racist, broken systems. None of the things on this list will bring justice to the deceased nor their families and loved ones. Nor will they end racism. But they are steps in the right direction.

Please let us know other things we can add.

Firing the officers is not enough

  • Sign this petition from the Color of Change asking for them to be charged with murder, block their pension, and never be hired as police officers again.
  • Sign this petition from demanding that the officers be charged with murder.
  • Sign this petition from the Action Pact demanding that the officers be arrested and charged with murder immediately.

Signing petitions is not enough. Don’t stop here.

Contact Minneapolis District Attorney Mike Freeman to request that he arrest and charge the officers with Floyd’s murder. Freeman can be reached at 612-348-5550. For reference, Officer Derek Chauvin (Badge #1087) was the one who knelt on Floyd’s neck, while officer Tou Thao (Badge #7162) stood by and did nothing.

Contact Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey with this online email form to demand:

  • get the police to stop using rubber bullets and tear gas on protesters
  • call for the arrest of all 4 officers
  • cut the police department’s budget (see details from M4BL below)
  • block pensions of involved officers
  • ban involved officers from becoming police officers ever again
