My name is Kali M. Adams (she/her), and I’m the Racial Justice intern for Summer 2019. Growing up in Vermont, I was homeschooled for most of elementary and middle school, then attended CVU for high school. This fall, I will be heading to Northampton, MA, for my first year Smith College! In my free time, I can most likely be found biking or lost in a book.
One of the reasons that working with racial justice is important to me is because of this state that I’ve lived in my entire life. With the lack of diversity in Vermont, it’s easy to believe that racism doesn’t exist, or at least that it’s not as extreme as in other parts of the country. Interning at Peace and Justice seemed like the best way for me to continue educating myself about these issues, and to be able to actually work with community outreach on this topic.
