Spring 2020 Interns!

Every semester the Peace & Justice Center brings on interns to be a part of our work. Our interns are a crucial part of our work, and contribute so much, both on a day-to-day basis and in a long term manner. The work interns did many years ago is still a part of the work we do today. Many of our interns stay engaged with our work after their internships end, whether as volunteers, facilitators, or as staff!

A couple weeks ago the PJC welcomed five new fabulous interns for the spring semester. You are likely to run into them if you visit our center/store or attend any of our programming, so if you see them be sure to say hello! We asked them to share a little bit about themselves so you can get to know them a little bit and follow all of the work they’ll be doing throughout the semester (and beyond!).

My name is Moirha Smith I am from Virginia Beach Global studies major minors in health&society and Middle Eastern studies my fun fact is that I can speak Arabic and I love coffee

I’m Margaret Barch and I’m a junior at the University of Vermont, double majoring in Environmental Studies and Food Systems, with a concentration in Community and International Development. I spent my first year at Michigan State University, but missed my hometown and the mountains too much! Since coming to UVM, I’ve been able to travel to Ecuador/Galapagos, Kenya and I have an upcoming trip to Peru. In my free time you can find me training for my next marathon, skiing, climbing, or dancing with my friends!

I’m Hannah Stumpf and I graduated from Sonoma State University in 2016 with a BA in Global Studies and an emphasis in Global Environmental Policy. Following graduation, I spent a year and a half traveling, working, and living abroad until settling down in Burlington in November of 2018. These experiences fueled my passion for our complex and rapidly changing world, and my curiosity led me to the Peace & Justice Center. In my free time, I enjoy seeing live music, hiking, and playing with my dog, Cauliflower.

My name is Elizabeth Dunford and I’m currently a Global Studies student at UVM. I also has a degree in Painting & Printmaking and love history, politics and my two dogs.

My name is Sanjna Krishnan, and I’m currently an intern at the PJC! I’m a junior neuroscience major at UVM and in my spare time I’m involved in working on research at the UVMMC and a cappella at UVM (my group is called Scratch That! Check us out!). I’m so excited to be at the PJC this semester and really be able to get to know the community more all while doing meaningful work!
