Gretchen Galbraith returned home to Burlington in 2022 to serve as professor of history and provost at Saint Michael’s College after serving for 25+ years as a history professor and administrator at universities in Michigan and northern New York. A social historian, her teaching has focused in recent years on key historical moments in which important questions about human rights (how to define them? who gets them and who does not? how will people exercise them?) are contested. She values the opportunity to support the Peace & Justice Center’s commitment to addressing the interconnected issues of human rights, and economic, social, and environmental justice.
