SUMMARY:From the River: Ethnic Cleansing in the West Bank village of Ras Ein Al Auja
DESCRIPTION:The West Bank is experiencing unprecedented israeli settler violence backed by the zionist occupation. In January 2026\, the shepherding village Ras Ein Al Auja became among the latest Palestinian community to be ethnically cleansed. Two of our Vermont neighbors were in Ras al Ein for the winter when this happened\, and are back now to share the story of Ras and surrounding villages of Jericho. \n‘From the River’: This part of Palestine lies along the Jordan River\, the eastern edge of Palestinian land which then stretches west to the Mediterranean Sea. Despite facing violent annexation by the zionist state\, Palestinians remain steadfast until the day Palestine is free. \nMore dates & locations in central Vermont & the Upper Valley TBA soon. \n*The space is on the second floor and regrettably only accessible by stairs.

SUMMARY:Reading Group: Here Where We Live Is Our Country
DESCRIPTION:Jewish Voice for Peace Champlain Valley and Peace & Justice Center are teaming up for a reading group in Burlington to delve in to & discuss Molly Crabapple’s new book “Here Where We Live is Our Country.” \n> SIGN-UPS for BOOK ORDERING OPEN UNTIL SUNDAY 17 MAY!\nFor more info & to sign up\, visit: tinyurl.com/JVPPJC\nSign-ups are welcome after Sunday 17 May\, but we cannot order books after that date. \nOnce the most influential Jewish political force in eastern Europe\, the Bund was secular\, socialist\, and uncompromisingly anti-Zionist. The Bundists fought for dignity and equality\, not in an imagined homeland in Palestine but “here where we live.” \nWe’ll gather 4 times\, each time to discuss a section of the book (the sections are called Underground\, Revolution\, the Alternate World\, & Fire): what stood out to us\, what was similar and different about those times & circumstances vs now\, how we can use lessons of the Bund today\, etc. \nThe PJC can order a book for you at ~$22 (wholesale price). These will be available for pick-up at the PJC. If you prefer e-book\, the PJC has a bookshop.org shop. Get a copy wherever you prefer\, these are just some options! If you’d like to participate but need assistance covering book costs\, reach out at rory@pjcvt.org \n  \nLOGISTICS \nWhen: Every other Tuesday\, 6-7:30 starting June 9 \nDates: June 9 & 23\, July 7 & 21 \nWhere: The Peace & Justice Center Office (239 S. Union St\, Burlington) – outside when it’s nice! \nThe PJC office itself is wheel-chair accessible – however the bathroom is not; it is up ~5 steps. \ntinyurl.com/JVPPJC

SUMMARY:Prairieland 9 Day of Solidarity! Teach-in and letterwriting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a teach-in and letterwriting on the 1st saturday in april:\nA noise demo at a Texas ice camp last 4 July has been used as an excuse for the feds to increase criminalization of dissent and go after the left as terrorists\, calling the protestors an “antifa cell.” On 13 march they were all handed guilty convictions on many of the counts\, incl ‘providing materials to support terrorists.’ Some folks were picked up & charged for such benign things as transporting zines and deleting someone from a Signal chat. \nAs we reorient to life in an increasingly totalitarian state\, one thing that remains true is we are stronger together. The state creates cases like this bc they’re desperate to scare us into silence. But we will continue to come together\, to learn from each other\, and show up for one another\, near or far. \nWe’ll have letterwriting supplies and zines available. We can create a group letter with personalized notes for anyone not wanting to write a whole letter of their own. The PJC can be used as the return address for your letter if desired. \nEager to learn more about the case? Visit https://prairielanddefendants.com \nWhere: 239 s union st\, btv\nWhen: saturday 4 april 2-4PM\nwww.pjcvt.org\nig: @pjcvermont⁩⁩

SUMMARY:Beita & the Village's Ongoing Resistance to Occupation: a presentation & ceremonial space for the anniversary of Ayşenur Eygi's martyring
DESCRIPTION:Join us in creating a ceremonial space honoring the life of Ayşenur Ezgi Eygi and the martyrs of Beita\, Palestine\, and learn about the village in a presentation about Beita’s ongoing resistance to occupation. On September 6\, 2024\, Ayşenur was killed by an IOF soldier. Over 1k Palestinians and numerous people from the u.s. have been killed in the West Bank by the IOF and illegal settlers in Palestine since 10/7/23; those responsible have not faced consequences. \nBeita\, a village in the West Bank\, has long been home to heart\, strength\, and resistance in the face of occupation. Learn more about this village where Ayşenur stood in solidarity alongside Palestinians. \n  \nCome early for Hard Pressed’s regular open hours from 4-7PM. “Stop by and work on your own projects\, flip through the zine library\, or just come say hello and see what we’re up to.” \nhttps://www.hardpressedvt.org/calendar
