Hello! My name is Deanna (she/her) and I am the new Volunteer Coordinator Intern for the fall. I am from Poughkeepsie, New York and I am currently studying Community and International Development at the University of Vermont.
I am really excited to work with the Peace and Justice Center because I aspire to work in the non-profit sector after college and social justice and volunteering are huge passions of mine. I have a lot of experience volunteering so recruiting and mentoring volunteers is going to be a really exciting task for me during this internship. I have had the opportunity to do community development work in the Dominican Republic and female empowerment research in Peru. I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to continually learn about the world and its’ problems and do what I can to help. I hope to expand my knowledge about societal issues both locally and globally while also learning how to use my resources to create change during my time at PJC and after.
Fun Facts: I’m happiest when I am close to any body of water and I have a super cute but crazy puppy named, Dakota!
