Upcoming PJC Events
The following events are hosted, organized, co-sponsored, or in collaboration with/by the Peace & Justice Center and are open to the public – we hope you can join us!
We charge a fee for many of our publicly hosted programs. No individual is turned away from any of our our programs due to a lack of funds. People under 25 are not expected to contribute financially. We ask those who are able to pay full price or more for our programs to do. This helps keep our programs financially accessible to all, regardless of income. Not sure if you should pay less, more, or nothing? View our Sliding Scale document to find an amount that feels appropriate to you.

“Wisconsin Rising” Screening
May 22, 2019 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm EDTFree
Back in 2011, long before the Vermont GOP invited the former Gov. of Wisconsin Scott Walker to our state as a celebrated guest and before his 2018 defeat for a third term of Governor, Scott Walker was notorious as the third governor in American history to face a recall election due to his efforts to decimate collective bargaining rights from the state’s public employees. These efforts to suppress workers’ rights prompted the largest sustained workers’ resistance movement in American history. Wisconsin Rising, a film by Sam Mayfield, chronicles the workers’ resistance to Walker and big money interests. What did the people of Wisconsin do in the face of these perceived injustices? How did the citizens rebuild and reorganize, and what can the rest of America learn from their actions? Join us on May 22nd to find out!
The screening of this film will not be our only response to Walker’s planned visit to our state. Thanks to the leadership of Vermont State Labor Council AFL-CIO and many others, there will be a planned picket of the GOP’s event in downtown Burlington on May 30th. Stay tuned for updates
