“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The second sentence of the United States Declaration of Independence remains one of the most famous statements of liberal philosophy ever penned, inspiring countless independence movements throughout the world in the centuries since. Yet, since the very beginning, there have also been countless critics of liberalism. From anarchists, to Marxists, to fascists, almost every other political ideology that has arisen since the 1600s have criticized and taken issue with liberalism, and we are going to talk about why that is.

Perhaps you are a liberal who is tired of being hated by both leftists and conservatives. Perhaps you are a leftist weary of organizing with liberals. Either way, you’ll almost certainly get something out of this examination of one of the most influential political ideologies in world history. Come learn about liberalism!
