Author Bill McKibben

On September 22 at 11am at Main Street Landing, the Peace & Justice Center and the Burlington Book Festival will host environmentalist Bill McKibben as part of the Cost of War Speaker and Film Series.

Bill McKibben is an environmentalist, author, and journalist. He is the Schumann Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College. In 2010, the Boston Globe called him “probably the nation’s leading environmentalist” and Time magazine described him as “the world’s best green journalist.”  McKibben will talk about the fight we should actually be having – taking on the fossil fuel companies.

The Peace & Justice Center’s Cost of War Series examines the amount of damage war costs all societies involved. Besides the obvious cost in lives and money, war further deteriorates our planet and our resources.

The Peace & Justice Center is teaming up with the Burlington Book Festival and the Green Mountain Will Miller Veterans for Peace to organize this event. Special thanks to the Harris and Frances Block Foundation for making the Cost of War Speaker and Film Series possible.
