Sunday, October 27th at 5pm: “Where Soldiers Come From” a film screening at Merrill’s Roxy Theater in Burlington. Part of our Cost of War Speaker and Film Series this film follows the four-year journey of childhood friends, forever changed by a faraway war from a snowy small town in Northern Michigan to the mountains of Afghanistan and back. This event is FREE but we are expecting a crowd so we encourage people to pick up a ticket at the Peace & Justice Store to reserve your seat. We hope to see you there!
Monday, November 11th at 7pm the Train Station at One Main in Burlington: Mike Heaney Speaks on a new Veteran’s Day Perspective. In honor of Veteran’s Day, Mike Heaney, a former Infantry Platoon Leader in the Vietnam War, historian, and author will speak about his experience as a soldier, veteran, mentor to other veterans, and scholar who studies the costs of war as they relate to the human spirit. Lt. Heaney will offer a GI’s perspective on the combat experience through sharing his stories of being ambushed and losing comrades, and returning to Vietnam years after the war ended, and the relationships he now has with Vietnamese veterans who were at one point his enemy.
These events are part of the Peace & Justice Center’s Cost of War Speaker and Film Series.
