Science is being mis-characterized as a partisan issue and it has given policymakers permission to reject overwhelming evidence, undermining the rigorous standards of research conducted by the scientific community. This is a critical and urgent matter. It is time for people and organizations who support scientific research and evidence-based policies to make your priorities known, pressure lawmakers to vote against ravaging budget cut proposals, support the staff of threatened organizations, and further science education and funding for students.
On Saturday, April 22, 2017, the March for Science will bring together passionate supporters to walk the streets in D.C. and at sister marches in Burlington, Montpelier, Rutland and Brattleboro! See details on Burlington below and more on the other locations on the March for Science Vermont website.
You can ride the bus with us to Washington, DC — there is still room! We are asking $125 per ticket. If you are able to contribute to the scholarship fund, or if you need a scholarship, we are glad to accommodate you. The bus departs from Burlington at 10pm, Friday, April 21 and from Fair Haven at 11:30pm. For more info or to reserve a seat, email email@example.com.
The Burlington March will gather at Royal Tyler Theater at UVM at 4:30 with a send off from Brass Balagan. We will march down College Street to Waterfront Park to the beats of Africa Jamono. The Tsunamibots will be with us at the rally as well as feature speakers Marguerite Dibble, Harry Chen, M.D., and Bill McKibben.
